Sagareshwar Beach, Vengurla

Beach · Vengurla, Sindhudurg

A wide, clean beach near Vengurla town, named after the Sagareshwar temple of Lord Shiva that stands close to the shore.

Sagareshwar beach lies just outside Vengurla town and takes its name from the small temple of Sagareshwar (Lord Shiva) near the shore. The beach is broad and long, with fine sand and a line of casuarina trees behind it.

Because it is close to Vengurla, it is easy to reach and good for an evening visit. The sea here is usually calm in the season, and the sunsets over the open water are a highlight. The town itself is known for its fishing harbour, its lighthouse and its cashew and coconut trade.

There are homestays and resorts in the area, and Vengurla's market has Malvani food and local products such as cashews and kokum.

Swim only in calm, shallow water near the shore and stay out of the sea in the monsoon.
