Laxmi Narayan Temple, Walawal

Temple · Kudal, Sindhudurg

An old, peaceful temple beside a lake at Walawal near Kudal, admired for its setting and traditional wooden work.

The Laxmi Narayan temple stands at Walawal, a green village near Kudal on the banks of the Karli river. The temple faces a large lake, and the reflection of its roofs and lamp tower in the still water is one of the most photographed sights of the Kudal area.

The temple is built in the traditional Konkan style, with tiled roofs, carved wooden pillars and a spacious hall. The calm atmosphere, the lake and the old trees around it make it a place where visitors tend to linger.

Walawal is also a pleasant village to explore, with paddy fields, coconut groves and the river close by. The Dhamapur lake and the Pinguli art museum are within easy reach from Kudal.

Please respect the temple: dress modestly, remove footwear and keep the lake area clean.
